Lelia (“Lia”) Schleier is a member of Klein Glasser Park & Lowe’s professional liability division. Her current practice includes the defense of professionals, including attorneys. Prior to joining Klein Glasser Park & Lowe, Lia worked as an attorney at two prominent Florida law firms, where her practice focused primarily on the defense of casualty and commercial litigation claims, involving aviation, premises liability, personal injury, wrongful death, general liability, and insurance coverage issues.

Lia received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from the University of Miami. She subsequently earned a Master of Arts degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she also advanced to the status of doctoral candidate in the English Department. While at Brown, Lia specialized in and taught U.S. and Latin American literary and cultural studies. Lia also taught English at Robert Morgan Educational Center in Miami, Florida, and she was also an Adjunct Professor at Bryant University in Rhode Island. Lia was elected to serve on the Nominating Committee of the Modern Language Association.

Following her time in academia and prior to attending law school, Lia worked as a medical and legal research consultant and assisted attorneys working on toxic torts and products liability cases. Lia received her Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law. While in law school, she served as the Senior Note and Comment Editor for the University of Iowa Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems and was a staff member in the University of Iowa’s Center for International Finance and Development, where she wrote and published on diverse topics relating to finance and development in Latin America and Europe. Following her first year of law school, Lia clerked for United States District Judge Jose E. Martinez of the Southern District of Florida. Lia also interned as a prosecutor with the Washington County, Iowa County Attorney’s Office.

Lia is admitted to practice in the both the Southern and Middle District of Florida. Lia is fluent in Spanish.
